10K Down, Half Marathon to Go!!

So its been forever once again since I have posted but here I am. So a lot of you know I have been training for a half marathon in April, so when The Monument Ave Richmond 10k was proposed to me, I thought, hey that's right along with the training schedule. So Lee and I made a weekend out of it. Lee took me to see Wicked in Richmond on Thursday night, then we got a hotel that night and slept. Seems so obvious, we just haven't done that in a really long time. Saturday was race day. This race is insane. Almost 40,000 people, 29 bands, numerous pep squads, thousands of people lining every inch of the race down one very awesome and historic street in Richmond. It was really cool. Here is a picture of the group of us that ran it.

Larry, Lee, Myself, Jimmy, and Charina. The boys were all partially injured going into the race, and even more so coming out. Lee ran it in about 48 minutes but literally galloped the last two miles due to an IT band injury (I would have loved to have seen it, but he was well ahead of me). Jimmy took off running with Lee, not to be seen again until well after the rest of us had finished. Apparently his feet started going crazy and he practically crawled the last two miles. Larry just walked/jogged due to an IT band issue as well. And Charina and I, we ran, we conversed, we took it all in, and we felt good. GIRL POWER!!!! Lee may have beaten us, but we looked the most normal actually running the entire race. We had a really good time and this is a race we will definitely do again. Such a different, unified, very exciting and fun race. I finished in 59 minutes, not awesome and I will admit that I won't be running my half that fast, I don't know if I can sustain that speed for 13 miles and I am a little sore. I think I just got so caught up in the Race itself I may have pushed myself a little more than I have in training. Man, I've been running since December now and I still feel like I am no where near where I need to be. Amazing what a post pregnancy body will do to you.
We also celebrated another joyous occasion while vacationing in Richmond. The birth of our first born. Since we were all together as a family we threw Kenzie a little birthday party. I can't believe she is 3, going on 15. Man we are in for it. Kenzie has been wanting fairy wings and a wand for some time, we spent the $7.00 and sprung for some for her birthday. Here she is working her magic.
And here is Austin at the party, just being awesome like he is!
And here is another one of Austin for the fam who hasn't seen him in a while. Isn't he the cutest!

Oh Ash, he absolutely is the cutest! They're both adorable. Happy birthday Kenz. And good job running the 10K! I hate running since having babies and having a body twice the size in every way as before. :) At least I've started swimming again! Loved the update!

Great job! I aspire to someday aspire to wanting to consider running a 10k. And it looks like you came out uninjured, which is great.

Your kids are adorable, by the way. I would eat them if I thought you wouldn't mind.

Go girl power!! Remember before the race we predicted the girls would be the last ones standing? Little did we know it would continue on for a few days more! Our poor husbands. What a great weekend!!

Awesome, Ash. Kudos on the running and training. That race sounds like it was so fun and I'm jealous all of you got to run it together. We have the best in-laws, don't we? I wish I was there hanging out with you and Charina in all your girl power. Good luck on your 13.1-er. You'll do great!

Wahoo!!! Way to go Ashley...so impressed! Our landlord left his treadmill for us and I am excited to start running again. It is just a great release.

Your kids just keep getting cuter and cuter. How is that possible?! :)
