Thanksgiving Festivities

Thanksgiving was a good day for us. Lee and I decided to run a 5K Turkey Trot that morning in order to counter balance the major quantity of calories we would consume for dinner. As always we slid in right on time and we had a lot of fun. I love the feel of running with a community. Everyone was so happy and shouting "Happy Thanksgiving." People were sitting and watching in their driveways, cheering us on, and I could smell the faint smell of turkeys cooking. It was a beautiful day, perfect running weather, not too hot, not too cold, just right. I finished at an impressive 800 something, and Lee placed in the 200's. I ran in 32 minutes and he ran in 22 minutes. 3000+ people ran the race and I even saw a turkey running it.

Later that day we headed down to Richmond and celebrated Thanksgiving with Lee's parents. It was a marvelous traditional feast, and we sure did feast. It was a great day full of fun, food, and much thanks for all the blessings we have been given.

World Premiere of Baby Bye Bye Bye Music Video

Featuring Makenize & Essence

Dad Lets me do what I want

So I leave Lee with Makenzie one night and come home thinking everything went well right, baby's asleep and Lee has a good report. Then a few days later I look on the camera and notice that the night when a little different then I had pictured.

Exhibit A:

Makenzie enjoying some snacks from the candy bowl

Exhibit B:

Makenzie enjoying some snacks from her father's feet. GROSS!!!

Exhibit C:

Makenzie enjoying some snacks from the baseball??

What can you do? Makenzie seems to enjoy spending time with her father, now I know why. Things get all willy nilly when I'm away. But I am happy that kids love spending time with Lee, he really is great.

Look Where I can fit

So all growing up my friends and I used to play this game "Look where I can fit." It usually consisted of sticking ourselves in places that no grown human should really be found. To name a few, dryers, that's a big one. If you can fit into the dryer you are set, consider yourself in the club. Suitcases is another, refrigerators another. Car trunks, but everyone can fit into a car trunk.

So I started Makenzie playing this game from a young age. I have to say though, I've never fit into a sink. I would love to add some pictures of me in all the places mentioned but prints aren't as easy to copy and paste into the computer without a scanner. Maybe someday. Where is the weirdest place you can fit?

I don't enjoy teething but I enjoy this part

Makenzie has been accumulating baby teeth and overall it is awful. She screams because she is in pain, she never lets you put her down. She's burning up because of her fever. She wakes up every hour on the hour at night. Pretty much I hat teething. But there is one part I enjoy. Kenzie wants to be snuggled when she is teething, she lets me hold her like a baby and just stares back at me. She hasn't let me do that since she was about 5 weeks old.

The Morning Run

Makenzie and I have been training for our Turkey Trot 5k and it gets a little cold outside so we have to bundle her all up. She is even happy running in the cold, being outside is Makenzie's anti-drug.

Our Daughter the Vampire

This picture actually looks like Makenzie is a ravenous vampire who is trying to attack her friend Essence, but in reality she is just trying to eat her. We actually took this from a video clip we have,(hence the lack of quality) when I figure out how to put videos on, I will. They are hilarious.

Trick or Treat

This was our first Halloween with Makenzie and the first time I wasn't actually trick or treating for myself. In my opinion you are never too young our too old to trick or treat. This year it was a great excuse to have a little one to help get the candy. Makenzie was a monkey and we went with her friend Essence who was a bumble bee. We ate chili at Rebecca's house and then went trick or treating in her neighborhood with her kids. We got quite a bit of candy considering Kenzie doesn't really have any teeth. (one is popping up right now). Lee and I will be more than happy to consume all that she was given. We did let Makenzie pick what she wanted. She would stick her hand in the candy bowl and grab something and start eating the wrapper. She seemed to prefer peanut M&Ms and smarties.

Back to the Motherland

Last week Lee and I got to go visit the motherland for the first time since we graduated. Provo used to be so care free in our eyes. Little responsibility, late nights, friends, fast food etc. This time it was a little different. Lee and I got to take a much desired trip back to Wymount to eat dinner with some friends. Last year in Wymount we all used to get together and have dinner and play games together, those nights were the source of many good memories and many late nights. This time it was a little different. Instead of enjoying every delicious bite of Brad's tacos, I scarfed them down as if my life depended on it, and instead of thinking about clever answers for Loaded Questions, I was thinking about clever ways to make Makenzie fall asleep. See this time last year, none of us had children, now almost all of us are enjoying the presence of a little one. So instead of late nights and laughs, we enjoy earlier nights and the cries of young babies.
Sometimes when I find myself checked out mentally I think about the good old days and for a moment wish I could be back, but I wouldn't trade in Makenzie, not for anything.
