Our good friends threw a Neil Diamond sweater party. Lee and I were more than excited to purchase ugly DI sweaters in order to attend this great event. So we went to a thrift store here and found a few little numbers we thought appropriate. Lee even bought a red turtle neck to go under his green sweater. So we put them on and took some pictures and checked each other out and came to the conclusion we didn't look that bad, in fact we looked good. That isn't supposed to happen wearing an ugly sweater. We thought it was funny. I have decided to add my ugly sweater to my repertoire of winter clothes.

Babies 1st Santa Pictures.
So Makenzie had her first Santa pictures. It was quite an experience. From the second we walked in her eyes went straight to Santa and the look on her face was one of terror and confusion.
The True Spirit of Christmas
So the routine in our house is.. I bathe Makenzie and then I yell for Lee and he brings in the towel and takes her and gets her dressed. So this time I yell for Lee and find him dressed in this little number when he brings in Makenzie's towel. He told me he and Makenzie were going to be the shepherds for the Nativity and that he was getting into the spirit of Christmas, naturally. I have never dressed up as a Shepherd to get into the Christmas spirit, but I am willing to give it a try.

Funny Story: Should kids eat metal?
So funny story of the week. As a lot of you may know, some of the Boppy Slipcovers got recalled, mine included. I guess the zipper has lead paint. Anyway, so I was complaining to Lee about how much of a pain this is, I have to send it in, wait for a new one.. blah blah! So he was getting heated and said, "just don't send it in, I could tell any parent don't let your kid chew on metal." So he starts ranting and raving about how only idiot parents let their kids eat metal. As he is saying all this I look down and Makenzie has grabbed Lee's belt (which is unbuckled and just hanging out, why I don't know) and starts chewing on the belt buckle (also made of metal) Go figure. I just stared at him for a minute, let him finish and said "all this from the man who is letting his daughter chew on his belt buckle?" I guess we're those idiot parents who let their kids eat metal. After all of that I have decided to send my Boppy back, lesson learned.

The First Snow
I thought it didn't really snow here on the East Coast. I am used to Utah and figured I may never see snow again. Turns out it snows (sometimes). It only stuck for a day or two, but it was awesome. Makenzie just watched in awe. Snow here isn't like Utah where they have it plowed off the roads and life continues, here everything shuts down and people freak. It is great. That is what a snow day should be like. Life should not continue on a snow day. A snow day should consist of sledding, drinking hot chocolate etc. Don't get me wrong I love snow as much as the next kid, but I hate snow when I have to tromp through 3ft of it to get to class a mile away and freeze my little nubbins off to do it.
For example: True Story; Winter finals last year my first final fell on a Saturday morning at 7am, for goodness sake a Saturday?... Anyway Friday night there was no snow, Saturday morning I wake up with just enough time to put some clothes on and drive to my building. Well I walk outside, no joke like 3 ft of snow. I was flabbergasted. I had like 10 minutes before my final started so I ran back inside, put on my winter clothes (keep in mind I was also 6 months pregnant at the time) ran to the car and started just knocking snow off of it. In a fruitless effort I realized I had lost the battle with the snow and there was no way I was getting my car out of that parking lot so I started running. 6 months prego running down the snow filled icy street. Stupid, probably but I had a final. I got about 100 yards down the street when one Shawn Ballard saw me and picked me up and drove me to my final. He quite possibly saved my life and Makenzie's life that day. He told me "I can't bare watching a pregnant women run down the street in the snow." And so I made it to my final, and I ended up getting an A in the class so the story has a happy ending! Happy Snow everyone. May all our Christmas' be white!
Ward Christmas Party
This last Friday Lee and I attended our ward Christmas Party. It consisted of dinner, a slide show about the Savior's birth, a few stories and then a special guest. I am sure you can all guess who that guest was. The funniest part was the kids. A few minutes before Santa appeared all the kids could anticipate his arrival. They all started getting this crazy look in their eyes, and getting all nervous and jumpy and then when they drew back the curtains and announced Santa Clause all the kids went CRAZY! It was like in Polar Express when they announce Santa all the elves start cheering. It was comparable to that. I've never seen a line form so fast as those kids scrambled to be the first to sit on his lap. It was funny. We dressed Makenzie up in her Christmas dress so she could get a picture with Santa, yeah we would have had to wait for like 200 kids, so we didn't get to. But we hope to get another opportunity.
