Makenzie and I have been training for our Turkey Trot 5k and it gets a little cold outside so we have to bundle her all up. She is even happy running in the cold, being outside is Makenzie's anti-drug.

Trick or Treat
This was our first Halloween with Makenzie and the first time I wasn't actually trick or treating for myself. In my opinion you are never too young our too old to trick or treat. This year it was a great excuse to have a little one to help get the candy. Makenzie was a monkey and we went with her friend Essence who was a bumble bee. We ate chili at Rebecca's house and then went trick or treating in her neighborhood with her kids.

Back to the Motherland
Last week Lee and I got to go visit the motherland for the first time since we graduated. Provo used to be so care free in our eyes. Little responsibility, late nights, friends, fast food etc. This time it was a little different. Lee and I got to take a much desired trip back to Wymount to eat dinner with some friends. Last year in Wymount we all used to get together and have dinner and play games together, those nights were the source of many good memories and many late nights. This time it was a little different. Instead of enjoying every delicious bite of Brad's tacos, I scarfed them down as if my life depended on it, and instead of thinking about clever answers for Loaded Questions, I was thinking about clever ways to make Makenzie fall asleep. See this time last year, none of us had children, now almost all of us are enjoying the presence of a little one. So instead of late nights and laughs, we enjoy earlier nights and the cries of young babies.

Sometimes when I find myself checked out mentally I think about the good old days and for a moment wish I could be back, but I wouldn't trade in Makenzie, not for anything.

A Day at the Farm
Makenzie and I went with our friends Brigthen and Essence to the farm this week to get into the spirit of Halloween. I think I was a little more excited than Kenzie. I kept wheeling her over the animals saying "Oh look at the pigs!" She didn't care, she barely even noticed them. If i was a baby I think I would notice how weird looking and smelly animals are. The highlight was the hey ride, we met some aliens and bunch of cut out characters.
At one point went into a "haunted barn." It wasn't scary but it sure was loud, and Kenzie hates anything loud, she got a little freaked. I think our daugther may be a scare-d-cat. That may not work out with Lee who isn't afraid of anything, and me the queen of thrill rides and Halloween.

Mom's Paranoid for Winter
Ok, so it has been like 90 degrees here since May. You would think that summer ends in early September, well it is almost late October and it is still shorts weather. We had one day where it was a little chilly, I thought it was going to be really cold, and that winter had arrived. So I bundled Kenzie up, as soon as we got outside I had to take the coat off because I realized it was still warm. The blue hat was needed though, it was windy. I know she isn't a boy, but look at those eyes when she wears blue. Heart stoppers!
