Where's My Snow?

So I am getting a little trunky for snow. We've had a few little teasers here, a flurry every once in a while, it will even get really cold and all the clouds that were in the sky raining suddenly run away. So now it is just Freezing with clear skies. Well I tell you, I am sick of it. I want my snow. I can remember one white Christmas in my entire life in WA. And guess what, I move away and it snows like 11 feet this year. What the heck? All I want is a few inches, enough to coat the world in white. Enough for me to go play and make a snow man, and carve out a few snow angels. Is that too much to ask? Now for my most favorite snow memories.
1. When I was probably about 10 my brother came into my room at about 2 in the morning and told me to get my snow clothes on cause we were going sledding. The snow was new and fresh and we went outside and started at the top of the hill. He laid on his belly and I laid on top of him. We flew down the hill that was probably about a quarter mile long. Surrounded by nothing but the streets lights and the freshly fallen snow. It was wonderful.
2. This isn't so much a memory but just something I love about the snow. The world is so clean and unblemished for at least a little while, and have you ever noticed how quiet it is when the snow is falling. Its like the noise of the world drops a few decibels. Which brings me to memory number 3.
3. Not even so much my favorite, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. I was in 2nd grade and we were at school when it started snowing. It was right before Christmas break, and the snow just kept on coming. Well at the end of the day there was quite a bit of snow and the power had gone out. They moved all the kids into the gym and tried to get transportation home. My bus was the first to arrive (thanks to Marge who had no doubt been driving buses for at least 30 years) so we hopped on and literally slided half way home, the down hill half of course. When it got to the uphill half we were on our own, doors opened, children released. So we started walking, me and about 12 other neighborhood kids. By this time it was dark, and freezing, and the snow was still falling. I remember walking up the last hill to my house with about the 5 kids who were left, I remember looking up the hill in the dark, surrounded by nothing but a blanket of snow and I remember how peaceful and quiet it was. I just remember thinking that this was something special. And then I got home and cried because I was literally frozen. But I remember that day perfectly. That was the one year we had a white Christmas.
So all in all, just a little snow is all I want. Just something... please, anything!!!!

Christmas Vacation Summed Up

Oh, where to begin. Christmas of 2008 was well....memorable. We took a trip with Lee's family down to FL to see family and soak up the rays. It all started out as a very good idea, we just had a few speed bumps along the way.

Oh the Disney excitement, this is us getting on the tram
At the beginning of the week we took a big family trip to Disney World. We were hoping for a magical experience, especially with the kiddos, what we got was:
1. Separated from the family about 4 seconds after we entered the park
2. Kicked off the Dumbo ride. (Turns out Makenzie doesn't like to fly in an elephant)
3. Larry, Keith, Sandy, Janelle and Lee all started feeling sick. (which then over the next few hour resulted in Vomiting, and lots of it)

Actually once I didn't have Makenzie to worry about anymore I loved Disney World. We stayed until almost midnight and made sure we got our $75 worth. (Janelle we are so sorry you waited for us and puked while we rode the rides). So overall Disney World was a struggle but I had a fun time.
Next Major event.
After returning home for Disney World at about 1:30am, I see Larry holding Makenzie while she is asleep on his shoulder. She had been puking for a few hours and wouldn't let him put her down. I took her from him, and held her the entire night while she slept, and puked and slept and puked. Finally at 6am, after no sleep and very little sanity, Lee decided we should take Kenzie to the ER due to amount of vomit and lack of hydration. So we spent Christmas eve in the ER in FL. Its a good thing Larry came with us because Lee himself was puking the entire time we were there and a few times on the way.
Christmas Day.

Christmas day was fun, we opened gifts and relaxed, had dinner at Dan and Bryn's and then about 5pm I knew I was next in the line of deadly rapid puke virus. So Larry and Sandy drove me and Makenzie back to the cabin where I vomited all night. I spent the next day recovering and the next day driving home. It was memorable. It is also good to be home.

Now it may have sounded like a disaster but there were some high points.
1. I was the master in President Scum
2. I actually enjoyed myself at Disney World
3. We had hot Chocolate and watched It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve (that felt like Christmas)
4. Kenzie loved playing with Claire and Jayn and Lily. She love's her cousins and it was fun to see them play together.
5. It was nice to see family and be together.
6. And during all the times I thought I might lose my mind, it was nice to reflect on the atonement and know that my Savior knew what I was feeling. It was nice to be able to think of him during the Christmas season when he is so easily forgotten in ribbons and wrapping paper.
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope everyone's Christmas was delightful.

My First 911 Call
I should have known today was going to be crazy when Kenzie slept in until 9. We started our day a little later than normal. Well every Monday, Wednesday, Friday I put Kenzie in her highchair with some breakfast and I run down stairs and put the trash on the curb. Well today when I came back from taking out the trash, I was locked out. We usually never lock our actual knob, only the bolt, so I had no idea the door was locked. I had no keys, no phone, so I started knocking my neighbors doors. I had to run all the way to the other side of my building before our nice neighbor Gretchen let me in (seeing the panic in my eyes I am sure). She let me use her phone and gave me some water, and even gave me a coat to wear while I waited for the firemen to show up. So I called 911 told them my toddler was locked in the house in her highchair. About 10 minutes later the Fire Truck pulls up. They worked relentlessly for about 10 more minutes, trying to pop open our window or our door. Finally our door popped open (WHAT A RELIEF) and I ran upstairs to save Makenzie who was sitting in her highchair and had eaten all her breakfast, happy as a clam. While I was locked out I prayed that Angels would watch over her since I couldn't be there, I think they were there because she usually screams if she is in her highchair for more than 10 minutes. This time she didn't seem to notice that I wasn't there for about 30 minutes, maybe her future brothers and sister were their keeping her company. A special thanks to the Firemen who came to our rescue. I will now be extra cautious taking my trash out.

A Gentle Reminder I'm not 17

So tonight I had one of those moments that throws you back into the past really fast (makes you feel younger and more reckless then you are) and then yanks you back out pretty hard, only to find you really are about a decade older than you think you are. Here is the story.
At church I work with the 16-18 year old girls and I couldn't ask for a better calling. I love the girls, I love working with them, being with them, everything about them. When I get with them I am magically transformed back into my 17 year old self. (Or so I feel.) Tonight we had an activity and I am telling them how badly I want to see Twilight (yes I am 14) but with a baby and 3 schedules to work around I have no time.. etc. So they tell me.. "We'll just go tonight all of us."(At this point they are now totally excited, and I am pretty stoked as well) I tell them I will probably have to wait and go with Lee, but they continue to beg me to go tonight. So I call Lee and say "would you be heart broken if I went to Twilight with the girls instead of you?" He tells me "Go for it." So I'm like "Ok lets do it."
They then proceed to remind me that they have to call their parents. WHAT?!! Parents, who calls their parents? Oh wait I am in my late 20's, my friends here are 17. There is almost a decades worth of difference here. (I haven't called my parents to ask permission for almost 10 years). That was when I received the whiplash back into reality.
So funny, story ends with all of their parents telling them no, "its a school night." I must have suppressed that line from my mind, because when you're parents say that to you when your 17 don't you just want to spit nails at them. Because lets face it, whatever you want to do is way more important then the school you have the next day. And now here I sit, alone, blogging, Twilightless, left high and dry.
Other side note: So as soon as the girls told me they couldn't go I tried to think of friends that could come with me, then I remembered, all my friends are married, and most of them have kids and its 9pm, no one would just jump into my car in 5 minutes to go see twilight. That is when I missed being 17. Why can't we all be just a little more reckless and crazy? Next time one of you gets a whim to do something, call me and I hope I can be as reckless for you as I wanted someone to be for me tonight.

Its gone
So for like a year now I have wanted to cut my hair but I have always come up with some excuse as to why now is not a good time. Well now is a good time and I finally did it. Janine did a great job and she even cut it off in a long pony tail so I could send it to locks of love. Never really thought about it before she mentioned it. So in cutting my hair hopefully I am able to help someone else. So here I am. Shout out to Talai, I also held out my hand and took one of these pictures. Shame, what's that?

So this is it. Plus I added this next little number. Don't I look like I am trying to take a sexy facebook profile picture or something?
